Description:
Responsible for day-to-day operations of the Grand Portage bison ranch; including but limited to watering, feeding, checking fencing, clearing fencing, culling and vaccination scheduling. Operating machinery, chainsaws and other equipment involved with caring for the bizhiki.  Works with Bison Laborer and Herd Manager to expand and improve the bison ranch. Works closely with the Food Sovereignty Group, the ITBC and other agencies as deemed necessary. Creating proper pastures for grazing which includes operating machinery, spreading seeds and rotating the bison through the pastures.

Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); OR two to four years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in agriculture, tractors, bobcats and mechanical skills.

Qualifications:
This position requires good working knowledge of maintenance and repair, ability to drive a tractor, and work in all weather conditions. Knowledge and experience of agriculture activities specifically livestock a plus. Experience in grant writing and reporting preferred. Valid driver's license and to be insurable with the Grand Portage Reservation Auto Insurance required.
