Description:
The primary role of this position is to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the field crew in support of a large diversity of projects across Grand Portage National Monument, the Grand Portage Reservation and Isle Royale National Park. The Lead Conservation Technician must also mentor youth participants and maintain a positive atmosphere conducive to success. Back-country travel on Isle Royale National Park is occasionally required. Work outdoors in inclement weather is required. Project specific expertise may be developed as a part of on the job training.
Education:
Experience working with and mentoring youth preferred.
Qualifications:
Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with various project mentors, community members and coworkers. Must be able and willing to work outside in a wide range of conditions. Must be able to maintain a positive atmosphere for youth participants. Driver's license is required.
Grand Portage requires a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for all positions. American Indian Preference will apply.
