Description:
The primary purpose for this position is to provide guide services to visitors. The work involves giving talks, interpreting natural and historic features, answering questions, and providing miscellaneous services to visitors. Training is provided.
Education:
High school diploma or GED
Qualifications:
Knowledge and understanding of natural/cultural resources and history of the area., Knowledge of the facts, events, personalities, and their influence which contributed to the importance of the area. Knowledge and understanding of Grand Portage National Monument, visitor services, and facilities. Ability to use tact and diplomacy in dealing with the general public to avoid conflict and resolve problems.
Grand Portage requires a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for all positions. American Indian Preference will apply.
