Description:
Assist and enhance the park's interpretive program while developing interpersonal and public speaking skills. Qualified and selected participants will work approximately 5 hours/day and up to four days per week performing supervised tasks assisting the staff and volunteers in the park's interpretive areas, including the Ojibwe Village, Warehouse, Kitchen, Gardens, Great Hall, and Heritage Center. Additionally, qualified and selected applicants will have the opportunity to learn and are encouraged to practice bead working, basketmaking, and other traditional skills on-site while sharing knowledge with park visitors.

Education:
Applicant must be pursuing education toward a high school diploma/GED or equivalent. Previous experience engaging with public is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be between the ages of 14-17 years old. Must have the ability to interact professionally with the public, co-workers, and peers. Must be able to work as a team member to provide excellent visitor services. Must be able and willing to follow directions and work independently. Must be able to operate basic office equipment.

 

Grand Portage requires a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for all positions. American Indian Preference will apply.
