Head Start Director
Performs any combination of tasks in the classroom to assist teaching staff of Head Start Program and rides the Head Start bus with children to provide monitoring and supervision and any other job related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor(s).
High school diploma or general education degree; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Have a strong desire to work with young children and the families. Ability to work well with families, while promoting educational activities. Willing and able to participate in training sessions and workshops. Must be able to keep all information strictly confidential. Must have an annual physical exam including an TB Test. Must have basic computer skills and have working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Publisher. Must be willing and able to learn and become proficient in the Head Start computer tracking program. Must clear background investigation for minimum standards of Character & Suitability for employment under the Indian Child Protection & Family Violence Prevention Act of 1990, Pub 101-630.
Grand Portage requires a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for all positions. American Indian Preference will apply.
